Does anybody know what the make-up of this year's football team will be? There has been absolutly little in the good old Californian and of course nothing on the Bakersfield College football web page except 2007? I know we have some returnees from last but we lost a lot of key players (Sophs) to D-1. Hopefully we good players coming from our local high school ranks
According to the one article in the Californian our 2008 schedule is once again a tough one. Hopefully we good players coming from our local high school ranks and outside the area to fill the positions of the spohs we lost? On the Web, Street and Smith have rated College of the Canyons as the preseason #1 in the nation because the have 16 returning starters and placed BC at #8 and El Camino #9!
These are the players I remember from last year that were freshman that are hopefully returning this year. The players below I think were all starters, they were starters most of not all of the season. The others I know played allot but they were not starters the whole season and may have only played in a reserve role but they got a lot of playing time:
DEFENSE
Brandon Miller S
Devin Pruitt CB
Quinton Woods DL
Junior Sefo DL
Jerry LaLusa DL
Michael Smith OLB
William Mahan K
OFFENSE
Brock Muller OL
Robert Figueora OL
Jorrell Bostrom OL
Zack Lewis TE
Arturo Villa K
OTHERS
Bruce Frieson RB
Ben Estill RB
Justin Jackson RB
William Beathia WR
The only freshman returning at QB, if he returns is Dylan Brock, 6’2”, 180lbs from Marina High School, Huntington Beach. Did he play at all last year? If not, he may have gone elsewhere!

from what I heard, Ben Estill is on a mission for this year and maybe next year. The rest of the list, if they all come back, is a good core. No BIG playmakers but Frieson, who is a stud! Of course, BC also landed one of the best rushers in the nation last year...for some reason his name slips my mind. Kid from East Bakersfield HS. I hope to make it to the scrimmage in a couple of weeks. Then we can see where we stand for sure. Quarterback and Wideouts, plus most of the defensive front 7 took a hit. But, recruits could come in and we, BC could not miss a beat.

I think you are referring to Andre Smith from East Bakersfield High? He was one of the top running backs in the state.
On the ESPN Recruiting database, there is a player listed as being in the class of 2009 attending Bakersfield College, a player by the name of Joe Jackson, DE, 6'4" 220 lbs? I check the roster on the BC website and he is not listed but he should pair just fine with 6'6" 245lb Quinton Woods to be our defensive bookends, at least size wise!
Not sure how you get on that database? My assumption is that you are added by college scouts? Either way we have 7 players if you add Andre Smith to our 6 sophs and El Camino has maybe 30+ players listed, COS, and City College of SF are close to El Camino numbers. If this database is any indication of the talent these schools have, this may be a long season for the Renegades.
Our players listed are:
Joe Jackson, DE
William Mahan, K
Brandon Miller, S
James Williams, CB
Quinton Woods, DE
Bruce Frieson, RB
Andre Smith, RB
I know the team has been going through conditioning but maybe this weekend the will break into full gear offical practice. That is when we normally see an article in the Californian!

El Camino had the talent, but it is teamwork and coaching that beat them and College of the Canyons last year. Chudy will have his boys ready, no matter the odds. Woods sounds like a really nice, mean player. Can't wait to see him create havoc...
